Raw honey tends to crystallize relatively quickly.
It turns milky white and becomes very thick, like the jar on the left.
This is totally natural and nothing to worry about.
In fact many people like their honey in the thick crystallized form.
It is easy to spread and if you are adding a spoonful to your cup of tea it just melts right in.
If you want to return your honey back to it's liquid state, like the jar on the right,
the best way to do this is to use warm water.
You do not want to over heat it and definitely do not use a microwave.
Bring a sauce pan of water to a boil on the stove. Once boiling, remove the pan from the stove and
put the honey jar in the hot water and leave over night.
In the morning the honey should be decrystallized.
We use a crock pot to decrystallize the jars before we deliver them to you. The proces works like this:
- Put 9 jars in the crock pot
- Fill the crock pot to the top with water
- Place the lid on the crock pot
- Put the crock pot on the warm setting
- Leave over night
The crock pot reaches a tempature between 100 and 105 degrees and in the morning we have 9 crystal
clear jars of honey.
This is our setup.
